Suitcase project

OK; so I’m not the most organised person. But this time I got tired of having all my (>10) lenses lying around in two shelves in the hall cupboard. Sometimes, a lens would be missing after I had put it somewhere else. But most of the time, I’d just get irritated trying to find where in the cupboard the particular lens I was looking for was hiding _this time_.

I wanted to keep all my lenses at one place, each lens having their own little spot. And so the idea grew that I’d create a customized lens suitcase using an empty suitcase and foam.

I found a metal suitcase for 250 DKK:

I measured it along with all of my lenses:

I went to my local foam expert (Skumbutikken) who cut me some foam slices in the right sizes. To be deep/shallow enough for all of my lenses, I needed 1x2cm bottom, 1x6cm top and 3x1cm thick layers in the middle. I have now finished cutting the top piece:

I chose to alter the layout of the lenses a bit because it seemed to me that I need a bit more margin in between.
