I’ll be using this equipment:

  • Camera bag: Lowepro Slingshot 200aw – for fast camera access
  • Memory cards: 16GB, 8GB and 4GB Sandisk Extreme III
  • Monopod: Gitzo GM2561T carbon fibre – low weight
  • Camera: Nikon D300 – just great for photowalks; weather proof, good ISO and not as heavy as the full frame boys
  • Lenses: Nikon 50mm/1.4, Nikon 85mm/1.8
  • Flash: Nikon SB-900

Two lenses that I really like to bring at photowalks are the Nikon 105mm/2.8 VR and the Sigma 10-20mm. However, lately it’s become quite heavy to carry four lenses (OK, I’ll admit it: I’m not a strong guy ;-) ). Also I rarely use all the lenses I bring. I still haven’t figured out how to easily switch lenses with the 200AW, it takes time and is quite frustrating when repeated more than a handful times per photowalk.
I usually don’t use the flash much on photowalks, but I want to bring it just in case.

What do you usually bring to your photowalk and why?

Clarification: Before my current edit of this post, it looked like I might have a multitude of camera house choices – I don’t.
